Further UAS cargo delivery trials planned

Swiss International Air Lines will conduct a second round of UAS delivery trials, this time carrying actual customer cargo, to further determine the technological feasibility of unmanned operations.

Earlier this year Swiss Post, Swiss WorldCargo (the cargo delivery division of Swiss International Air Lines) and Matternet announced that flight tests of the Matternet ONE UAS had taken place, and the follow up move will now add deliverable payloads to the trial.

The eventual primary use is thought to include delivery of medical and other specialist cargo, such as pharmaceuticals and live organs, to remote villages and dwellings in the Swiss
