FIDAE 2010: Rafael UAVs assisting in earthquake effort

Aeronautics and Rafael are working together to help Chilean earthquake humanitarian effort.

The companies have loaned two unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to the Chilean Air Force (the Fuerza Aerea de Chile) to operate in the area around Concepcion where the 8.8 magnitude earthquake struck at the end of February. The Orbiter Mini UAV and the Aerostar tactical UAV are being used to survey areas affected by the quake, beaming pictures back to the civil authorities.
