FirstLook UGV for USMC
Endeavor Robotics has received a $10 million contract from the US Marine Corps to provide FirstLook UGVs, the company announced on 7 May.
The 5lbs throwable FirstLook can be dropped 20ft onto concrete without sustaining damage. Equipped with day/night cameras and two-way audio, the UGV acts as a soldier's eyes and ears providing better stand-off distance from potential threats.
The UGVs will be equipped with the uPoint multi-UGV control system. The system’s interoperable technology and tablet-based controller help to reduce operator training time.
FirstLook UGVs can climb over seven-inch obstacles and self-right automatically when flipped over. The system can be used to clear buildings, detect IEDs and to perform tasks in confined spaces such as caves, tunnels and crawl spaces.
