More WASPs for US Army
Drone Aviation has delivered new multi-mission, tactical Winch Aerostat Small Platform (WASP) systems to the US Army.
The delivery was made under a contract awarded by the US Army in October 2017 for new WASP hardware, spare equipment and training. This order follows the customer’s successful in-theatre use of the enhanced WASP system.
WASP is a compact, tactical and mobile aerostat system that provides day/night video and secure wireless communication range extension from either a fixed, stationary position or while being towed. It can also be configured to support a variety of mission requirements with customised payloads.
The system can significantly extend ISR capabilities and secure communications relay in remote and austere locations while operating at altitudes of up to 1,500ft above ground level.
