Chinese UAS attempt to rule the roost

Chinese security services are using birdlike UAS in a small-scale way around the country to monitor citizens and suspicious activities.

The ornithological UAS in question, christened the Dove, flies by copying the flapping motion of a bird’s wings. At present, the UAS can replicate about 90% of a dove’s motions.

Nearly 2,000 test flights have been conducted to date, although the project is still in the development phase.

The South China Morning Post reported that ‘more than 30 military and government agencies have deployed the birdlike drones and related devices in at least five provinces in recent years’.
