AUVSI 2015: Industry appeals for regulation overhaul

As the AUVSI’s Unmanned Vehicles conference opened its exhibition hall to attendees, a leading panellist at the general session called for easier access to US-based training areas for small commercial UAS operators.

Helen Greiner, CEO and founder of CyPhy Works, said that there should be an experimental license to allow US-based testing by smaller companies and start-ups.

‘There needs to be an evolution of regulations and a framework in which the regulations can evolve. More safe testing areas are needed and people shouldn’t have to go out of the country for testing,’ she said.
