Aussie Shadow ops improve
The Australian Army's operational use of the AAI RQ-7B Shadow 200 tactical UAV has grown significantly in sophistication, according to a battery captain.
Capt Andrew Evans, battery captain of the 131st Battery, 20th Surveillance and Target Acquisition (STA) Regiment, Royal Australian Artillery, told Shephard that progress had been made in flight operations and getting information in and out.
He highlighted the use of a battery command post for the first time during Exercise Talisman Sabre 2015, which provided immediate observation reports containing basic analysis to the 7th Brigade headquarters, now acting as the Australian Army’s ready brigade.
