Australia robotises M113AS4 APCs

BAE Systems Australia is developing an autonomous version of the M113 armoured personnel carrier (APC) on behalf of the Australian Army as part of a demonstration project that will show how soldiers could be kept out of harm’s way on future battlefields.

It is transforming two M113AS4 APCs into optionally manned vehicles using indigenous technologies, with the work taking place at the company’s facility in Edinburgh Parks near Adelaide.

Potential uses for the unmanned M113AS4s are intelligence collection and logistics.
