Special Operations explores “Mindfulness” training

Special operations forces could use mindfulness training to overcome cognitive burdens associated with increased reliance upon C4ISTAR technology and other human machine interfaces, academic sources have suggested.

According to findings publicized by the University of Miami (UM) on 1st December, mindfulness training was found to “improve cognitive performance” of US special operations forces with potential applications in both training and operational environments.

The UM explained how cognitive distractions and diversions associated with the modern battlespace could be “extremely dire for elite military service members deployed to a conflict zone.
