SOFIC 2019: US Naval SOF prepare for PDW “combat evaluation”

US Naval special operations elements are preparing to conduct “combat evaluation” on a small number of Personal Defense Weapon (PDW) kits from SIG Sauer. Those evaluations, projected to run from June 2019 to May 2020, will feed future requirements and SOF acquisition decisions surrounding the utility and application of a PDW within US Special Operations Command operations.

The program was outlined during the recent Special Operations Forces Industry Conference, in Tampa, Florida, by Lieutenant Colonel Marcos Cervantes, Program Manager for SOF Lethality within the Program Executive Office for SOF Warrior.
