SOFIC 2017: SOCOM seeks next-gen sniper sight

US Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) is seeking a next-generation sniper rifle sight capable of supporting long range engagements out to 1,600m in range, service officials have disclosed.

Requirements are being considered by the Tampa-based organisation which has unveiled a Request for Information (RfI) regarding its Precision Variable Power Scope/Precision Aiming Laser (P-VPS/PAL) programme.

Published on 28th April, the RfI calls for research and development into the capabilities ahead of a Technical Experimentation (TE) programme scheduled to run from 21-25 August, the solicitation reads.
