Rotterdam to receive high efficiency patrol vessels
The Port of Rotterdam is set to christen its newest patrol vessel, the RPA 8, on 18 January following successful river trials of the boat.
The new boat contains various technologies that have sought to increase the efficiency of the patrol vessel compared with its predecessors. The public tender for the RPA 8 specified a need for complete life-cycle costs, a minimal amount of emissions and a minimum of wave formation.
The 25m RPA 8 has been constructed by Dutch Shipyard Kooiman and designed by Van Oossanen Naval Architecture based on its Fast Displacement Hull Form (FDHF) concept.
