Raytheon to produce Block V Tomahawk for USN
The USN has ordered 90 full-rate production Lot 17 Block V Tactical Tomahawk (TACTOM) All Up Round (AUR) Vertical Launch System missiles from Raytheon under a $145.1 million contract modification.
Raytheon will also provide TACTOM AUR recertification AGR-4 spares.
Work will be performed primarily in the US with some tasks carried out in Canada and the UK, for completion by December 2023.
The Tomahawk is a tactical land attack cruise missile that can be fired from surface platforms or submarines and aircraft. It is primarily used by the USN and the UK Royal Navy.
There are two variants of the Block V missile, both of which integrate a new seeker: Block Va (also known as Maritime Strike Tomahawk) for attacking surface vessels; and Block Vb, equipped with the bunker-busting Joint Multi-Effects Warhead System warhead.
