Type 31 programme moves into Whole Ship Engineering phase
With the completion of the Whole Ship Preliminary Design Review (WSPDR) for the UK’s Type 31 frigate in June, programme lead Babcock is now transitioning into the Whole Ship Engineering phase to develop system integration in the Smart Marine 3D CAD model.
Babcock announced in late July that the WSPDR process had been completed during a ten-day period in June, as a key milestone in the Type 31 programme. The company’s Rosyth shipyard will also see the construction of a new assembly hall capable of housing two Type 31 frigate during the manufacturing phase.
