French shipyard OCEA has announced the sale of a single 84m OPV 270 vessel and four 24m FPB 72 Mk II patrol boats to the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG).

This is OCEA’s first sale to the Philippines, which serves as the launch customer for the OPV 270, and the second in Southeast Asia, Indonesia having already acquired a pair of 60m OSV 190 SC-WB oceanographic vessels.

The OPV 270 is OCEA’s largest ship design and it was selected by the PCG after an international competition.

Under the terms of the contract all five vessels will be built to civilian specifications and delivered
