RCAF examines C295W cockpit
The Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) has conducted a preliminary anthropometric examination of the Airbus C295W cockpit that has been selected for Canada’s Fixed-Wing Search and Rescue (FWSAR) programme.
The examination, conducted at Airbus’s C295W final assembly line in Seville, Spain, allowed the RCAF to understand the aircraft’s design and layout from a human factors perspective in detail.
During the examination, the ability for RCAF equipment such as flight clothing, helmets and night-vision goggles to integrate with the aircraft’s flight-deck was demonstrated.
The Canadian government selected the C295W for the FWSAR programme in December 2016. The 16 aircraft will be modified for search and rescue operations with deliveries to begin in 2019.
