Indian Navy completes MCGC Huravee refit
The Indian Navy has delivered MCGS Huravee to the Maldivian Coast Guard following its refit at Naval Dockyard in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, the Indian MoD announced.
Huravee arrived at Visakhapatnam in July and completed its refit in mid-November. During the refit, major repairs were undertaken on the ship’s hull, main propulsion and auxiliaries. A number of systems and equipment were also upgraded.
Harbour and sea trials of all equipment have been carried out to achieve full combat capability of the ship and ensure its continuous availability for ongoing operations.
MCGS Huravee was originally commissioned as INS Tillanchang, a Trinkat-class patrol vessel built by Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers. The vessel was subsequently gifted to the Maldives by the government of India in April 2006. The refit was carried out by the Indian Navy as a diplomatic courtesy.
