In April 2019, Terma confirmed an update to the C-Flex mission system on MV Sycamore to the newest member of the C-Series family, C-Flex Patrol, which features a redesigned user interface.

MV Sycamore’s primary mission is to conduct operational aviation/helicopter training by and for the Royal Australian Navy (RAN). The RAN will be the fourth navy operating the C-Flex Patrol mission system, with the update and associated training being coordinated by Terma’s local service partner Jenkins Engineering Defense  Systems.

MV Sycamore  is currently equipped with a helicopter mission control system from Terma, which compromises the Scanter 6002 air and surface surveillance radar with IFF to work alongside the C-Flex Patrol mission system.

The C-Flex Patrol mission system is located in the aviation control room from where the operator is presented with situation awareness based on data from the Scanter 6002 radar and the IFF. This data is correlated and merged into a layered situation picture with sea chart, track overlay, radar video overlay along with graphical overlays, routes and helicopter approach patterns.

Derived from Terma’s C-Flex combat management system supplied for the Royal Danish Navy’s OPVs and frigates, C-Flex Patrol provides C2 to enable commercial, coast guard and naval vessels to conduct search and rescue, surveillance, law enforcement and deterrence missions.
