US State Department clears AMRAAM FMS to Spain
Spain is one step closer to receiving 100 AIM-120C-7/8 AMRAAM from Raytheon under an FMS deal after the US State Department approved the proposal, the US Defense Security and Cooperation Agency announced on 2 September.
Also included in the estimated $248.5 million deal are one spare AMRAAM guidance section; KGV-135A encryption devices; containers; weapon support and support equipment; spare and repair parts; publications and technical documentation; US government and contractor engineering, technical, and logistics support services; and other related elements of logistical and programme support.
The proposed FMS contract will improve Spain’s capability to meet current and future threats by increasing its stocks of AMRAAMs for its fighter aircraft in support of national defence, the DSCA noted.
