UK picks partner to provide small UAVs for testing
KBR announced on 1 March that it has obtained a contract from the UK MoD to deliver small unmanned aircraft in support of experiments involving the British Army and the Future Capability Group in MoD Defence Equipment & Support.
The value and duration of the deal were undisclosed.
Service delivery will also include training, logistics and technical support, based on an established integrator approach adopted by KBR.
Working with UK-based UAV manufacturer Evolve Dynamics, the Government Solutions EMEA business in KBR will ensure delivery of systems for use by MoD personnel in the UK and overseas.
The Sky Mantis quadcopter (pictured) is the core product made by Evolve Dynamics. The UAV has a 1h flight time, customisable payloads and fully encrypted downlink.
