UK behind in large UAV airspace integration
The recent flights of a USAF Global Hawk in UK airspace have highlighted the capability the nation has to fly aircraft of this size, as well as the lack of progress that has been made to integrate large UAVs into national airspace, a CAA representative has observed.
In May the HALE UAV flew three sorties – mainly over sea – in the UK as part of NATO’s Unified Vision 2014 exercise, which was the first flight of this kind in the UK.
