AS Avionics Services, a Brazil-based affiliated company of Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), has officially launched its Caçador Class 4 Medium Altitude Long Endurance (MALE) UAS, IAI announced on 7 July.

The launch follows the demonstration flight of the UAS in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Caçador is based on IAI's Heron-1 UAS. It can fly for over 40 hours at an altitude of up to 30,000ft with a range of 1,000km. It has a maximum takeoff weight of 1,270kg and can carry multiple payloads simultaneously to meet mission requirements. The UAS has a wideband satellite communication channel with a range of over 1,000km from its command and control station.

According to IAI the Caçador has complied with all regulations and obtained all permits required by the Brazilian government authorities.

IAI has been working with Avionics Services since 2013 to establish an independent UAS industrial base in Brazil. The agreement includes transfer of technology and knowledge to Avionics Services.
