Future unmanned test bed potential for QF-16

Boeing is looking towards the future of the QF-16 which could potentially be utilised as a test bed for unmanned technology developments, according to officials at their San Antonio site. 

The QF-16 is currently used as a Full Scale Aerial Target (FSAT) for the US Air Force. However, Boeing has been talking with the service about the non-target side of the business, according to Paul Cejas, chief engineer off-Boeing programmes.  

‘The company is focusing on the future of the QF-16 being utilised as an unmanned test-bed,’ Cejas said.
