Raven UAS for Portuguese Army
AeroVironment has received a $5.9 million contract to deliver RQ-11B Raven UAS equipped with Mantis i23 sensors and pocket Remote Video Terminals to the Portuguese Army.
The contract, with delivery scheduled over a three-year period, has been awarded by the NATO Support and Procurement Agency.
Raven is a man-packable platform designed for rapid deployment and high mobility for military applications requiring low-altitude surveillance and reconnaissance intelligence.
Kirk Flittie, VP and general manager of AeroVironment’s Unmanned Aircraft Systems business, said: ‘Our small UAS deliver valuable situational awareness directly to frontline warfighters at a fraction of the procurement and lifecycle cost of larger UAS.
'The Raven system will provide the Portuguese Army with rapid and effective force protection as well as interoperability capabilities with NATO forces, supporting coalition mission integration.’
