Warsaw purchases Black Hawks for SOF ops

The Polish Special Operations Component Command (POL SOCC) will be furnished with four S-70i Black Hawk helicopters following a contract signing with Sikorsky on 25 January.

In an official announcement from the defence minister, Mariusz Blaszczak, the Black Hawks will support special operations as conducted by the POL SOCC which includes the army’s Jednostka Wojskowa Agat and Jednostka Wojskowa Komandosów special operations regiments; CT unit Jednostka Wojskowa Grom; special operations support unit Jednostka Wojskowa Nil; as well as the navy’s maritime special operations unit Jednostka Wojskowa Formoza.
