Why artificial intelligence has secured its place in special forces' operations
The diverse use cases of Artificial Intelligence (AI) have been turning it into a critical tool for Special Operations Forces (SOF).
Polaris will supply the Turkmenistan Special Operation Forces with DAGOR, MRZR and MV850 vehicles under a contract announced by the company on 24 January.
The DAGOR vehicle can seat up to nine passengers. With high payload capacity and advanced mobility, the vehicle allows formations to move faster, carry more and significantly reduce combat fatigue. It can be internally transportable on a variety of aircraft, including the CH-47 and C-130.
The Polaris MRZR ultralight, off-road vehicle is designed for a range of support roles, including rapid personnel deployment, command and control, casualty evacuation and supply transport missions.
The MV850 all-terrain vehicle is designed to reduce fatigue with smooth, responsive power steering, variable assist for easier steering, and active descent control and engine breaking system to monitor and control descent and deceleration.
Doug Malikowski, director of international business development, said: ‘Polaris is looking forward to supporting the government of Turkmenistan and their defence forces as they update their ground vehicle fleet with Polaris lightweight tactical vehicles.
‘The vehicles we provide are highly transportable, off-road capable and are relied on for helping special forces navigate restrictive and complex environments.’

Polaris Government and Defense has launched the Military 850 TITAN 155 snowmobile ahead of SOF Week 2025. Designed for immediate deployment in cold-weather environments, the platform will enter trials with special operations forces by year-end, targeting NATO’s northern and eastern European members.
