Kuwait requests King Air 350ER ISR aircraft
The US State Department has made a determination approving a potential foreign military sale of King Air 350ER ISR aircraft to Kuwait.
In a package worth $259 million, Kuwait has requested four King Air 350ER ISR aircraft with enhanced PT6A-67A engines and one spare engine; four AN/AAQ-35 Wescam MX-15HDi EO/IR imaging sensor turrets, four Selex Seaspray 7500E active electronically scanned array radars, AN/AAR-47 missile warning systems, and AN/ALE-47 countermeasure dispenser systems.
Supporting communications, cryptographic, precision navigation equipment and IFF systems are also included in the request.
One aircraft will be modified to accommodate VIP transport, medical evacuation or command and control capabilities.
The requested items and services will establish Kuwait's first dedicated airborne ISR fleet.
If the sale goes ahead, Sierra Nevada Corporation will be the prime contractor.
