Iraqi SOF adjust for future operations

Iraq’s Counter-Terrorism Service (CTS) will consider the future training and materiel requirements of the Iraqi Special Operations Forces (ISOF) following the eradication of the self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS) from the country.

In a Pentagon briefing on 16th January 2018, Deputy Commanding General of the US-led Special Operations Joint Task Force - Operation Inherent Resolve, BG James Glynn, noted that ISOF had performed more conventional ‘light infantry’ operations to retake huge swathes of land from IS including the City of Mosul.
