Georgian SF become NATO certified

The Georgian Special Operations Forces (GEO SOF) has successfully completed NATO certification to operate a Special Operations Task Group (SOTG), defence sources have confirmed to Shephard.

NATO-certification comes on the back of mentoring by SOF elements from across the alliance, including the Polish Special Operations Component Command (POL SOCC) and US Special Operations Command (USSOCOM).

One POL SOCC source explained to Shephard that training had seen force elements forward-deployed to Georgia in order to develop the capabilities of GEO SOF.

Training covered generation of doctrine and concepts of operation through to small unit tactics, techniques and procedures (TTPs).
