Why artificial intelligence has secured its place in special forces' operations
The diverse use cases of Artificial Intelligence (AI) have been turning it into a critical tool for Special Operations Forces (SOF).
Air Tractor and L3 Technologies have added BAE Systems’ COBRA multi-function signals intelligence and electronic warfare sensor family of systems as an option for the AT-802L Longsword aircraft.
The AT-802L Longsword is a collaboration between L3 Technologies and Air Tractor developed to meet partner nations and international special operations forces requirements. The Federal Aviation Administration and military type certified aircraft can be configured for ISR and light-attack missions.
BAE Systems’ COBRA family of systems is an open architecture signals intelligence and electronic support/electronic attack capability that can be combined with other sensors and weapons.
Software-defined COBRA can be integrated as a pod on the AT-802L wing station and can also be integrated in an inboard configuration.
Mark Von Schwarz, senior VP and president of L3 Aerospace Systems, said: 'Compatibility with BAE Systems’ COBRA highlights the multi-mission flexibility of the AT-802L Longsword. The aircraft can accommodate multiple sensors and still have hard points available for weapons.'
