USN picks Austal for Savannah post-delivery support
Austal USA is providing industrial post-delivery availability support for the USN Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) USS Savannah, under a $13.33 million contract modification from Naval Sea Systems Command.
Work will be performed in Mobile, Alabama (80%) and Pittsfield, Massachusetts (20%), for completion by December 2022.
The keel for Savannah (LCS 28, an Independence-class vessel) was laid in September 2019. The trimaran ship was launched on 3 September 2020 and it is currently preparing for trials.
