Greeks seek maintenance support for naval gas turbines
The Hellenic Navy issued an EU-wide tender on 9 December for general inspection and overhaul work on two Rolls-Royce Tyne RM1C gas turbines.
A three-year framework contract worth an estimated €2.8 million ($3.38 million) will be awarded to the successful bidder in two lots.
Bids are due by 11 January 2021.
Two RM1Cs per vessel power the Hellenic Navy’s Elli-class frigates, generating 4,900hp apiece. They are used with two Rolls-Royce Olympus TM3B gas turbines generating 25,700hp each.
