What's next for the Pentagon after the Replicator programme?
Although the Replicator initiative has made several accomplishments, there are still multiple gaps to plug across the US Department of Defense (DoD) and its services.
DRS Technologies and Roboteam have signed a strategic teaming agreement covering the development of a solution for the US Army's Common Robotic System – Individual (CRS-I) programme, DRS announced on 24 May.
The partnership will leverage DRS Technologies' production and platform systems engineering capabilities, and Roboteam's military robotics technologies.
The CRS-I programme aims to develop an unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) for dismounted soldiers to conduct lower-level reconnaissance, surveillance, and target acquisition; remotely clear danger areas; remotely detect chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear threats; and conduct explosive ordnance disposal and obstacle countermeasure operations.
Joseph Matteoni, vice president and general manager, DRS Sustainment Systems, said: 'We are excited to work with Roboteam to offer our customer a world-class robotic solution that provides dismounted troops with a superior capability to detect and mitigate threats.'
