What's next for the Pentagon after the Replicator programme?
Although the Replicator initiative has made several accomplishments, there are still multiple gaps to plug across the US Department of Defense (DoD) and its services.
A demonstration unmanned helicopter system delivered to Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC) by CybAero has conducted several flights over Guangdong Province in southern China, CybAero announced on 20 August.
The demonstration flights were conducted by CybAero’s flight team for representatives from one of China’s largest state-owned power grid companies. The test flights encompassed several different operations, including inspection of specific power lines. The operations were deemed a success by the company.
Bing Leng, marketing and sales director of CybAero’s distributor ACC Group, said: ‘Our client is impressed by the helicopter’s manoeuvrability and stability when flying in extreme conditions and by the fact that it was able to take off and land in a very small space.’
CybAero signed an eight-year framework agreement with AVIC in July 2014 for 70 helicopter systems – including at least 20 helicopter systems in the first three years and at least 50 more over the following five years. The demonstration system used in these test flights was delivered in July, and was supplied in addition to the 70 systems
The first call-off order under the agreement was announced in March 2015 for five APID ONE Ranger models.
