UAVOS and KACST to develop Saker 1C UAV
UAVOS and the King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) announced on 25 May that they are seeking to expand the Saker family of UAS.
Work to develop the next generation of MALE UAS has begun with the Saker 1C. This will focus on using advanced manufacturing technologies and integration of next-generation capabilities such as autonomy, navigation, communications and sensor processing.
Aliaksei Stratsilatau, CEO and Lead Developer at UAVOS, said: ‘The successful flight demonstrations and operational tests reflect Saker’s reliability and quality, together with its advanced technological capabilities. There is no doubt that Saker 1C gives its users significant operational advantages.’
The Saker 1C is capable of reaching altitudes of up to 7000m and can reach a maximum speed of 110kt. Furthermore, the 1C’s payload has been increased compared to that of the Saker 1B to 300kg which can include SAR imagery, Gyro Stabilised EO/IR Gimbal and Digitial Video Data Link.
Its fuel capacity has also doubled on that of the Saker 1B platform.
