LM targets US Army for K-Max technology

Following the Office of Naval Research’s (ONR’s) decision to overlook the K-Max cargo UAS for its Autonomous Aerial Cargo/Utility System (AACUS) effort, developers Lockheed Martin and Kaman Aerospace are looking towards the US Army to utilise the autonomous technology.

In May, the ONR downselected Aurora Flight Sciences with an Unmanned Little Bird (ULB) to continue with the next stage of AACUS, a programme that is looking to develop autonomous technology which allows operators with no previous experience to fly a cargo-carrying UAV.
