DSEI 2015: SW-4 flying solo for MoD (video)
The UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) has concluded a two-year long study looking at unmanned rotary wing systems, including conducting simulated deck landings with a full-size optionally piloted helicopter.
AgustaWestland was awarded a contract by the MoD in 2013 for the Rotary Wing Unmanned Aerial System (RWUAS) Capability Concept Demonstration (CCD) programme, which will support Royal Navy decision making on future UAS.
The flying element of the programme was split into three phases, with flying carried out by a SW-4 RUAS Solo technology demonstrator at Llanbedr Airfield in late May 2015. The trials demonstrated the operability of a RWUAS, pseudo
