AUSA 2019: Textron and BAE Systems go head to head with Robotic Combat Vehicle concepts
Robots are the name of the game at AUSA 2019 with two brand new designs being showcased for the US Army’s Robotic Combat Vehicle (RCV) effort, part of the Next Generation Combat Vehicle (NGCV) programme.
Textron unveiled the Ripsaw M5 (pictured), a development between Howe and Howe, Textron and FLIR, while BAE Systems showed its Robotics Technology Demonstrator (RTD).
BAE Systems’ offering shows its realigned priorities after pulling out of the US Army’s Optionally Manned Fighting Vehicle effort earlier this year.
The RTD has been demonstrated to the US Army, according to Jim Miller, business development director for combat vehicles
