Airshow China 2012: New UAV designs unveiled

The China Aviation Industry Corporation used Airshow China in Zhuhai this week to publicly unveil the new Wing Loong UAV.

The Wing Loong was among a number of indigenous UAV designs showcased by China’s aerospace industry, although the number of platforms on display was down on previous years.

Weighing in a 1.1 tonnes, the Wing Loong is 9m long, has a 14m wingspan and is remarkably similar in design as the MQ-1 Predator. The UAV can reportedly fly at a maximum altitude of 5,300m, with a range of 4,000 km.
