Thales has delivered a Flight and Navigation Procedures Trainer (FNPT II) simulator to the Royal Malaysian Air Force, the company announced on 22 March.

The simulator has been in operation since December with Malaysian company Gading Kasturi, which provides flight training at the Royal Air Force College in Alor Setar, the capital of Kedah state in Peninsular Malaysia.

The flight and navigation training simulator for the H120 helicopter provides initial pilot training. It supplements live flight training and delivers flight procedure training for procedures such as navigation, instrument flight and how to handle failures, as well as various emergency procedures which cannot be easily accomplished on a real helicopter.

The visual database provided with the simulator has been adapted to training needs within the Malaysian environment.
