Spartan to continue Iraqi T-6A support
The US DoD has awarded Spartan Air Academy Iraq (based in Irving, Texas) a $14.77 million contract modification for the Iraq T-6A contractor logistics support and training maintenance programme.
The modification exercises an option to extend the term of the contract, so that Spartan continues to provide essential services to effectively maintain and operate a fleet of 15 T-6A Texan II training aircraft used by the Iraqi Air Force.
Work will be performed at Balad Air Base in Iraq, for completion by 31 December 2020.
In April 2017, the US Defense Security Cooperation Agency approved a $1.06 billion FMS to Iraq for pilot and maintenance training, contractor logistical support for trainer aircraft and base support. Platforms covered in the deal include the T-6A.
