Pictorvision launches stabilized aerial camera system, the eclipse
Pictorvision, the leader in stabilized and precision control solutions for the entertainment industry, announced today that their newest stabilized aerial camera system, the eclipse, has now completed its first few jobs - with glowing reviews. The eclipse was utilized for the shooting of a national commercial for AT & T and was put to the test on a week long lunar landing project for CRI and Jet Propulsion Labs.
The eclipse is the first truly revolutionary advancement in aerial camera systems in a generation. At the core of the system is Pictorvision’s patented XR Motion ManagementTM technology, enabling the most advanced steering, stability and pointing capabilities on the market. “I was amazed at how quickly we could re-set between takes, even though we were in a tight mountain canyon” remarked film pilot David “CJ” Calvert Jones from Helifilms USA. “I was banking aggressively and had absolutely no problems with the system toppling or needing re-sets” he added. Clio award winning Director Neil Tardio and DP Larry Fong (300, Watchmen, Lost) were impressed with the system’s capabilities. The eclipse allowed the team to get extra takes at that magic hour and still have the time to move the ground crew onto the next set up before loosing the light. “The system was truly amazing” commented Tardio. “The helicopter was able to take any angle of attack they wanted. We were able to get 4 or 5 takes with the eclipse in the same time it would have taken to get only 2 shots with any other system. It’s the best innovation in 2008”, he added.
The eclipse features:
* Highest level of stability
* Unmatched precise and responsive steering
* Geo Steering
* Will not topple – even with the most aggressive banking
* Absolute level horizon
* Faster start-ups and resets, saving both time and fuel in the air
The Pictorvision eclipse is immediately available for use on feature films, commercials or any other aerial project that requires the utmost stability – particularly if the shot requires aggressive flying.
