Penzance Heliport will team with Sloane Helicopters to operate a new helicopter route between Penzance and the Isles of Scilly, the company announced on 14 March.

Helicopter flights to the Isles of Scilly, between Penzance and the islands of Tresco and St Mary’s, will commence from Spring 2019, subject to planning consent from Cornwall Council in the coming weeks.

Sloane will provide an AW139 aircraft for the Penzance to Isles of Scilly route, and employ key staff, including pilots. The company will also provide engineering services in conjunction with Leonardo.

Sloane Helicopters provides services to clients including air ambulance charities, and provides helicopters and engineering support for no 32 Squadron of the Royal Air Force.

Jeremy Awenat, managing director, Sloane Helicopters, said: ‘It is fair to say we all share a deep love, experience and knowledge of Cornwall, and to be the aviation partner in such a prestigious project for the Isles of Scilly and the wider Cornwall region is hugely rewarding.’
