Norsk Luftambulanse (NOLAS) has become the first civil operator to receive an H135 helicopter equipped with Helionix, Airbus Helicopters announced on 4 September.

Six additional H135s with Helionix will be delivered to NOLAS in 2017 and 2018.

NOLAS will deploy the aircraft in support of Norway's national helicopter emergency medical service. The company was contracted to operate the service in 2016, with a total of 12 bases and 17 new helicopters to be operational from June 2018.

All helicopters will be equipped for 24/7 operations, configured for Single Pilot IFR/Night Vision Imaging System operation, Aerolite interiors and the latest medical equipment. With a specially trained anesthesiologist, a pilot, a HEMS crew member and a configured helicopter, NOLAS will be able to perform on-scene missions and advanced intensive care transportation.

Designed by Airbus Helicopters, the Helionix avionics system with 4-axis autopilot provides operators with increased mission flexibility and safety. Helionix provides an innovative cockpit layout which aids situational awareness. The cockpit is night vision goggle compatible and includes a first limit indicator which highlights the engine instrument data for the pilot in one indicator.
