MD Helicopters has received an order from the Gwinnett County Police Department Aviation Unit to supply a new MD 530F helicopter, the company announced on 5 January.

Delivery of the new MD 530F helicopter has been scheduled for 4Q 2018.

The new helicopter will be configured to mirror the capabilities of Gwinnett County’s existing MD 530F. It will feature the 650shp Rolls-Royce 250-C30 engine, extended tail boom and longer main-rotor blades. The aircraft will also be equipped with a new all-glass cockpit as well as wire strike protection, Fargo 21 gallon auxiliary fuel tank, and recessed PA speaker mount.

The complete, upgraded law enforcement mission equipment package will be installed by Hiram, Georgia-based Rotor Resources, an authorised MD Helicopters Service Center.

The helicopter will serve the aviation unit by providing direct aerial support to uniformed patrol officer operations and general support to all other divisions within the Gwinnett County government.
