Airbus Helicopters has received an order from Metro Aviation for 25 EC145e helicopters for air medical transport and other aerial services, the company announced on 26 February.

The EC145e is a light weight and low cost version of the EC145. It has a large cabin with clam-shell rear doors for easy and safe loading and unloading. The standard EC145e includes a single pilot VFR glass cockpit featuring the Garmin G500H and GTN 650 GPS and communication system. It has a maximum take-off weight of 7,903lbs.

The EC145e can be used for operations including law enforcement, air medical, utility, aerial work, firefighting, and passenger transport.

Metro Aviation will customise the aircraft for individual customers at its completion center in Shreveport, Louisiana.

Mike Stanberry, president, Metro Aviation, said: ‘The versatility and price point made it an attractive addition to a large number of rotary-wing fleets, and we have put seven in service since committing to our first purchase in 2015. The EC145e model has proven to be a workhorse across various mission profiles, and we are excited about putting these new aircraft into service within our family of customers.’
