Metro Aviation has acquired Guardian Mobility, a Canada-based provider of solutions for global tracking, voice and data communications, flight data monitoring and analytics services, the company announced on 28 February.

Guardian’s G4 product provides global, real-time user tracking and two-way messaging in one device.  The G4MX is flexible and scalable, offering a streamlined migration path.

The acquisition of Guardian Mobility will allow Metro to offer tracking products for automated flight following (AFF) with additional telemetry units (ATU). The acquisition will also help Metro to fill the gap in its current Outerlink product line. According to Metro, Guardian offered a sophisticated billing system and extra benefits as an Iridium value added reseller.

Metro purchased Outerlink Global Solutions in 2014 and has continued developing its technology to offer near real-time tracking, push-to-talk communication, flight data monitoring with voice and video, immediate alerts and warnings and robust analytics.

Mike Stanberry, president, Metro, said: ‘We are excited to add Guardian Mobility to the Metro Companies. Guardian’s portable device, including the added AFF and ATU capabilities, expands our service offerings in the field of flight data monitoring, tracking and communication. We are also excited to expand our market, as Guardian has a strong footprint in Canada and Europe.’
