MD Helicopters (MDHI) has delivered a newly converted MD 902 Explorer to CoxHealth based in Springfield, Missouri, the company announced on 22 November.

The aircraft was upgraded under MDHI’s MD 900-to-902 upgrade programme, and delivered as a certified MD 902 with full factory warranty.

This is the second to MDHI helicopter to join the CoxHealth fleet. CoxHealth initially selected the MD Explorer as its emergency medical service (EMS)/air ambulance platform in 2007. This acquisition will help CoxHealth standardise its growing fleet on the MD platform to deliver operational economies alongside improved patient care.

Featuring MDHI’s NOTAR technology, the MD 902 is designed to offer improved safety, a larger cabin, smoother flight and a reduced noise profile that enables in-flight medical crews to safely deliver critical care.

Andy Pillado, VP of commercial and military sales for MDHI, said: ‘Just as CoxHealth sets the standard for EMS/air ambulance service to the citizens of southwest Missouri, the MD 900/902 sets the standard in performance, affordability, dependability and safety in the global public safety arena

‘We are proud of our partnership with CoxHealth and honoured to be part of the continued growth of their network.’
