CHC Helicopter’s new Airbus H175 helicopter has completed its first flight, the company announced on 5 September.

The aircraft flew from Aberdeen to the Ocean Patriot rig in the North Sea.

CHC took delivery of its first H175 in August. The aircraft is outfitted in full offshore passenger transport configuration, and will be used to transport passengers to North Sea offshore installations.

The H175 is a new-generation medium-sized helicopter designed for oil and gas and search and rescue operators.

CHC has selected its Aberdeen base as its global H175 engineering centre of excellence to support its H175 fleet.

Dave Balevic, SVP, engineering and operations at CHC Helicopter, said: ‘The addition of the H175 allows us to offer the latest aircraft technology. Locating our H175 engineering centre of excellence in Aberdeen will ensure current and future customers benefit from our best in class, global standards and processes.’
