Bristow Norway has commenced helicopter offshore crew change and SAR services from its Hammerfest base in support of Eni Norway and Equinor in the Barents Sea, the company announced on 30 August.

Bristow will use a Sikorsky S-92 in oil and gas configuration to provide crew change services for offshore platforms and an existing Sikorsky all-weather (AW) SAR configured S-92 to improve offshore safety and rescue capability. Both helicopters will be equipped with integrated traffic alert and collision avoidance system, tail mounted cameras and performance-based navigation.

The AW SAR S-92 is fully certified for night vision goggles operations, with forward looking infrared auto hover, twin-hoist, mission management with moving map and increased on-board medical capabilities. On short notice, the crew change helicopter can be reconfigured as a backup for the SAR helicopter with full AW SAR capability.

Bristow announced the five year contract in September 2017.
